What to Expect From TMJ Treatment

temporomandibular disorder, otherwise known as ATM Disorder include the articulation of the jaw and muscles that surround them. These diseases are often very painful and can cause symptoms that mimic other conditions. These may include pain in the neck and shoulders and headaches, and it is often difficult to yawn, eat or swallow. In most cases, your dentist will prescribe and manufacture one or two mouthpieces known as orthoses. Brackets can be connected to the teeth or can be removable. They are usually worn 24 hours a day, a device during the day, and the other in the night. Some dentists have their patients wearing braces, both at the same time. The first week is usually the most difficult. It can be difficult to speak first, and perhaps sometimes feel a bit 'bad beginning. But then the magic starts to happen. The headaches begin to fall, back and neck pain is reduced, life is great! If you had pain in the jaw to be aware, this is not usually go away during the first month. After a few weeks, maybe a month, suddenly the pain returns. Maybe not as strong as before treatment, but definitely there.

This is due to changes in your posture. As the irritation of the joints decreases TM starts changing head position, the result is the bite of a change in the original position and the right plantar well. After as an adaptation by the dentist or qualified dental assistant, will feel to start large, later, only to relapse a few weeks or a month. Depending on the situation and your dentist can access the roller coaster just for three months or up to a year. You may also need to visit a chiropractor, massage therapist, physiotherapist and osteopath. When you follow the instructions of the dentist, however, all worth it.Once you feel better, your dentist will discuss with you what to do next. In some patients, continued use of a brace at night is all that is necessary.
